ROBB ROY
1987-1999
In late 1986, Kevin returned home from the "Hotel Gig", auditoned and aced the position, landing role as Bassist/Songwriter in this predominantly original act. In his years as Bassist for Robb Roy, the group accomplished amazing acts, some of what most other "non-national" or "unsigned" acts had ever accomplished. Their first year together, nominated by the Detroit Music Awards( now the Motor City Music Awards, hosted each year by national celebrities and held at The State Theater), Robb Roy was voted as "band deserving wider recognition". The following year, they were nominated and won the award for "Best Rock Band of the Year". This went on for numerous years, having more than one nomination per year.
Yamaha conducted a Nationwide search for Americas best unsigned band in 1989, and Robb Roy was picked as one of 5 from thousands of entries and flown to Los Angeles, CA for a television show with the likes of national rock act "Winger". Cd's were recorded, Robb Roy signed with CAOS MUSIC, tours of Europe and Scotland fell into place, and the boys performed with many, many national act shows.
